I've been doing a bit of sewing, and have come to the conclusion that there is something paranormal going on. For one thing, it seems that the pieces I cut out sit quietly for days at a time -- and then suddenly come together into a completed garment. I can't understand this. It seems as though, if it was so easy to put these things together, I'd just sit down and sew, and have new clothes much more rapidly. Instead, it takes days to pick everything up, leading to clothing taking weeks to make.
But even more mysterious is the question of buttons. I have buttons. I have a lot of buttons. I buy buttons that I think might be useful, I buy buttons that I think might work with fabric I own. I buy buttons just because I think they're pretty. And yet, somehow, I never have buttons when it's time to sew them on. Every time I finish a garment, I have to go out and buy buttons. What's up with that? You'd think, considering the enormous stash of buttons I've got around here, I'd just grab what I need, but no -- doesn't matter much at all, nothing in my box of buttons will quite do...
Does anyone else sew? Can anyone else relate to this? Can anyone here offer a scientific explanation for these phenomena?
I just want to understand!
