Phillipa what kind of lies did they tell?
Honestly I was tempted myself to knock a few years off my age just to compensate for the male tendency to pursue younger women. I want a guy my own age, not one 10-20 years older which is generally the replies I get. But... I'm not good at lying so I stuck with the awful truth.
