That's what therapy has been like for me too. Its like someone more knowledgeble who gives me advice about my problems. So far I have done cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Its all about changing your thoughts in order to change your behavior. I feel like it teaches a positive and empowering way of thinking. I've had a lot of bad things happen in the last few years, but I feel this way of thinking has helped me turn them into positives. I used to have very negative thoughts about myself, like: 'I'm a loser', 'nothing will ever get better for me', ect. Its really hard to get out of the habit of thinking that way, but I'm living proof that it can happen. I would highly encourage giving it a try. What have you got to lose?
