Well, therapists are different, but they don't all delve into your psyche all that much. Some just give support. I think the technical term for it is "supportive counseling" as opposed to psychotherapy. The first two years I did therapy, that's all we were doing. She just listened to me talk about my life, gave supportive responses, and tried to offer some advice here and there. I think you might be able to find some counseling to match what you want. And who knows, someday you might feel ready to do more in-depth therapy.
