OMG, I remember that from my childhood. Did the one you're thinking of have pieces of gum in it? I always found it difficult to eat the ice cream and not the bubble gum, but I somehow mananged.
Now my favorite is Braum's German Chocolate. It has coconut and nuts in it. I like to get it made into a shake. I also like plain mint ice cream without chocolate chips, which is hard to find. Of course nothing in the world beats HOMEMADE vanilla. I don't think I've had that in more than 20 years! I can still remember the taste though.
Mmmmmmm, ice cream.
