I think he's probably the only hero I have (famous one..there are probably others, but nobody gets to me the way he does)

He did a similar thing (though not as heart wrenching) on T.V nation. He'd heard about a black man who drove a B.M.W who'd never committed any crime, but because of his nice car and racism he had been arrested over 10O times in one year.

MM Went to all the police offices in the city he lived in (I've forgotten now) Driving A van that had his picture on it, saying "THIS MAN IS NOT A CRIMINAL"
And gave them posters to put up saying..the same thing.

Then he spoke to the heads of the departments, and I can't even quote it clearly now.. but he's so dry.. I think part of his brilliance is that his conversation is so superficially unthreatening, but pointed that he gets people to hang themselves.
