Hey~i am sorry to hear about Hammie but it does sound like *pink eye* to make it simple. I know in the US, there are now drops available OTC and if u have them there, they may help. Also take a warm wash cloth and wipe Hammie's eyes so he feels better. A vet will upset Hammie, cost you a fortune and few care for hamsters. It is VERY contagious so do be careful. I just went through this w/ newborn kittens from a stray cat. I had a hamster when i was younger, Herbie, and i loved him so much so i know how u feel. Herbie wld. sleep w/ me on my pillow and slide down his chute into his play cage every morning. When he was 3, he passed away but i know he had a good life and got through it. People get as attached to animals as they do a person and death can be hard but hopefully it is just *pink eye* and Hammie will be better. Hang in there.
