Have you found a place which will see Hammie? Maybe they can advise you on how to transport him, if so. Or maybe a search online will help. The only thing I can think of, not having experience with small animals, would be to cover the cage/carrier lightly with dark fabric so as to reduce the stress caused by seeing the motion of the bus and strange surroundings/people.
