Used to have a Mac at home before it imploded. Nothing beats them for graphics work etc and the OS is still better than Windows as is the new Browser.
Until the newest line I wouldn't have recommended them because most peripherals had to be Mac specific but now they're pretty generic USB connectivity and the file compatability and exchange is much better/simpler. iMovie and iTunes etc are brilliant and easy to use too. Be warned though you'll pay quite a bit more than for an equivalent speck PC. I also believe that the newest Macs will be Intel just like pcs. Loved mine while I had it.
