I don't think controversy is in itself bad. I think people can learn a lot from it. Like you mentioned, it only gets "bad" when people start to attack each other.

I don't know, maybe for some people avoiding controversy is the best thing to do. I myself actually like controversy...it is thought provoking...lets me see other's views more clearly. I know there are certain controversies that can never be resolved...I'm ok with that.
I respect all views...even those that are very different from mine. Also, I can never hold a grudge against anyone for any length of time.
