And so the fireworks shall begin on Friday eve

Posted by sunny10 on February 15, 2005, at 13:00:06

I have spoken to my sister. She has not been home for a visit since 1994. She has never called or written without begging for something (usually money, which none of us has, either).

But I realize that she should say goodbye to her father while she still can, so I called her and told her what has been going on with him and that she needs to come up here now. She, of course, has no car, no money, no driver's license even, and is not working- out on Workman's Comp and dealing with lawyers to get a botched surgery redone at the hospital's expense.

Ten years later; same story; different surgery, et cetera.

While I had her on the phone, I purchased her train tickets to arrive Friday Eve and go back home on Tuesday. She is forty years old. She needs to stop partying and pull herself together like an adult (I do recognize, however, that she needs a great deal of therapy to get past the 14 year old she still is emotionally). If I can do it; she can do it!

She laughed at the fact that "the Black Sheep of the family" would be "back in town" and I told her not to be ridiculous- in leaving town so many years ago she passed down the title to me. A black sheep has to be around to actually BE the scapegoat...

I know that in inviting her and purchasing her ticket I will p*ss off everyone in the family. Maybe even Dad. But they both need to see each other before he passes away (not in terms of forgiveness/recrimintations- just in terms of closure).

Yes, Susan47, it is very difficult to be the "feeler" in a family of "thinkers".....

I wonder how long my head can continue to pound under the stress before an aneurism (sp?)forms....
