Well, thanks, Susan. First Avenue in Manhattan is especially wide (one way, uptown), so usually I get a cacaphony of traffic sounds 24/7. Yesterday it was just this wind. Would've made a great shot for a movie, with the traffic lights all dancing like stoned chorus-line girls. You have to enjoy the snow here quick. Except in the Park, it doesn't stay white long. By tonight it will be mostly a pale charcoal color. By tomorrow, it will mostly be black, gray, and brownish-green slush, with hidden sink-hole-like puddles at some of the curbs that LOOK about three inches deep but are closer to ten -- as you discover when you step in them and the icy water swallows up your boots and then fills them. Always carry a spare set of socks in NYC in the winter if there's snow out and about. Ta. ;) Atticus
