I hope you start feeling better so that you can ring in the new year in a fun, festive way.

As for me, after 20 years of partying like a mad person on new year's eve and into the first day of the new year, the past few years I have begun to enjoy a quiet evening at home. It has become a time of reflection for me, and it's quite nice and therapeutic. I think next year, when I hope to be in better shape than I am now, I might look into volunteering somewhere on new year's eve (maybe at a hospital, shelter or seniors' home) and provide some company to those who are alone and lonely at that time of the year. I plan to do something like that on Christmas day next year as well, and have already told my family that.
