I always tell people I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. The person that gets my vote is the one with the nearest fit.
The polarization bothers me so much. Besides making it much more difficult to find anything like a fit, it reduces the chance of anyone in the middle being heard enough to make a run. You can't get a 527 for the "common sense" party.
All of which is quite upsetting to me - a product of the "peace and love" era. My motto has always been this line from Hair:
"Be whatever you are, do whatever you want to do. Just as long as you don't hurt anyone."
