What David Lynch films have you seen or could recommend? I saw "The Straight Story" a few months ago by accident on late-nite tv. I stayed up until 4:00am because I couldn't stop watching it. On the surface it captured life in Iowa but it's much deeper and the imagery is so sharp.
Anyway I haven't seen anything else by Lynch. I think he's a tm meditator and has ties to Maharishi U. in Fairfield, Iowa where I live. When I mentioned the Straight Story, his name seems to be a household name around here.
I'd like to see Straight Story without commercials sometime. I wish my closest, and only, encounter with Iowa was that film. Alas, I feel like I've been trapped here for almost two decades. I hope to make my escape some day - but not on a riding lawn mower like Alvin Straight.
