Of course, the trainer in me simply has to get out.. is screaming to be allowed out... it is amazing how much you can help your dog in these situations as well as yourself with proper training...

the dog learns self-esteem and amazingly enough so does the owner/handler...
I have seen it so often...
the person comes with the dog for training because the vet says that the dog has a behaviour problem such as the one you describe and dog and owner go away at the end of our sessions with a new outlook on life...
so why is it I cannot teach myself self esteem through training??? I train my own dogs and I train these people to train their dogs... how come it doesn't work for me???
