You know, I was a bit hesitant to suggest a pinata. I was at a 4 year-old's birthday party this summer, and they had a clown pinata. Unfortunately, the string broke off of the clown's head where it had been attached, so the dad tied it around the clown's neck in order to re-hang the clown. We lynched a clown!!!!!
And to make matters worse, once it finally fell down for good, the kids were beating it to break it open. So it felt like we lynched and then beat the clown with sticks! And this is a city with racial tension involving the police force and African-American young men. It was surreal. And creepy.
Good thing there was candy and cake... Good for what ails ya.
