i went that route once. i wound up self-medicating with alcohol and street drugs. i made a somewhat ill-advised move across the country for the geographic solution, which didn't help. all of these things made my eventual treatment and steps towards recovery that much more difficult.
i highly recommend medical treatment for when you feel you want to die.
