Why is mommy sick? Talking to kids.

Posted by sfmom on October 26, 2003, at 10:56:54

I'm a mother of a way-too-smart two year old. It breaks my heart how often she asks "Mommy sick?" "Mommy tired?" She wants to know where to kiss me to make it better. I tell her to kiss my head. I have major depression, GAD, and panic disorder. I'm afraid to be alone with my daughter for too long because I'm so spacy on meds (Lexapro and Clonopin) and I don't want her to see me have a panic attack. I'm also afraid to drive with her. She doesn't understand that most days it's impossible for me to take her to the park, or even out for a walk. Anyone been here? What can I do? She's a very empathetic kid but I just can't figure out what to say to her that won't make her worry more. Thanks for your help.
