I try to think about that, how lucky I am because I have so much that others don't have. But also, there is just so much misery that I have, so much pain, and other misfortunes. I once had a therapist who said that when you don't have to worry about the basic needs of life (food, shelter...) then these more complex problems develop since you aren't so preoccupied with the day-to-day survival - although, if you think about it, yes we really are in a different way!
