You thought he would HIT you?? Girl, don't you ever ever ever let a man get away with that.
Not once, not ever, for ANY reason.

That said, I will tell you from experience that insomnia will ruin your life. The longer it goes on, the faster you'll deteriorate...your anxiety level will skyrocket and your quality of life will plummet. Don't be a jackass like me and try to wait it out, please please please go see a doctor.

I'll tell you a little about my own waking nightmare. I know I tried every single OTC herb and drug that Walgreens has to sell in my quest for a single night of restful sleep. I swallowed enough Benadryl and Nyquil to make myself sick,
I was so desperate. Now here's the really awful part: the more of this stuff that I swallowed, the less I would sleep. I didn't find out until later that I have a paradoxical (reverse) reaction to some medications, a classic bipolar symptom. So I was actually spending a fortune and
ruining my health with sleep aids that were keeping me awake.

That's why I try to encourage people to get an accurate diagnosis and learn as much about their condition as they possibly can. Those little pamphlets in the waiting room don't tell you jack.
You also have to come clean with the doctor, you have to hold your head up and tell him the truth about the wierd stuff that you've been doing so that he can make an accurate diagnosis. I know it's hard but you have to be honest...try to keep in mind that what you're doing is describing your symptoms to a physician, that's the bottom line.
Would you go to your family doctor and try to hide
a growing tumor? It's suicide.

In the meantime, try to rest. Every once in awhile
I'll run into a magazine article on trouble sleeping and invariably they'll recommend that if you can't get to sleep, get out of bed and go do something for awhile...don't read or watch TV in bed. This is supposed to help condition your subconcious to equate bed with sleep and not other activities. I'm not saying this isn't true,
but if you've been sleeping poorly for a long time DON'T get up in the middle of the night and do housework or attempt to make yourself tired with some other physical activity. Get a bunch of pillows and whatever else you need to make yourself comfortable on the couch. You need to get your heart rate down and relax as much as possible. It's not a substitute for sleep, but at least it will give your poor little body something of a break.

Sleep deprivation is serious business. Get professional advice.
