The accident was over a year ago, and I did call my ins. co. immediately. We only carry liability, so we had my car fixed out of our pocket. We did take a couple of photos beforehand, though. Our ins. rates did not change after the accident, thank goodness!
I have mailed the letter (summons) to my ins. co., and they should receive it tomorrow. Fortunately, the suit was only for $25,000, and I am covered for twice that. I expect that there will be a very small settlement.
I just hate the way our American society has become so litigious (sp??). If a restaurant serves you hot coffee, you sue. What ever happened to personal responsibility and common sense!? (That may sound hypocritical given that I only claim 40-50% responsibility for the accident, but I do really try to claim my screw-ups and admit when I am wrong- but I am not *always* wrong!)
Maybe this thread should change to a more lighthearted version- What is the most outrageous lawsuit you have ever heard of?
