I once went up to a stranger at a hobby event who looked a bit lonely and did my best to welcome and orient her. Came to find out, she may have been newer than I was but was was more cool, knew everyone, and knew quite a bit more about the hobby than I did. So on Babble, I'm sort of afraid of welcoming someone who may have been around far longer than I have but hasn't been posting for a while. Or someone who has been posting for a bit, but whose name I regrettably forgot.

Hello Diane:
I can understand that. Hmm. We'll have to come up with a welcome that includes new posters, returnees, etc. And as for the stranger at the hobby show, you get the star for extending yourself to someone who appeared to be lonely. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'd rather extend myself and find out she didn't need my attention, than to NOT be friendly and find out she WAS lonely.
Take care.
