Hi Phyl,

I think that's a great idea. I always try to do it when someone identifies themselves as new, but I have this personal fear of volunteering it. I once went up to a stranger at a hobby event who looked a bit lonely and did my best to welcome and orient her. Came to find out, she may have been newer than I was but was was more cool, knew everyone, and knew quite a bit more about the hobby than I did. So on Babble, I'm sort of afraid of welcoming someone who may have been around far longer than I have but hasn't been posting for a while. Or someone who has been posting for a bit, but whose name I regrettably forgot.

My hangup, and I should either try to get over it or come up with a welcome that acknowledges the possibility of all that.
