Unusual Musical Tastes

Posted by IsoM on October 30, 2002, at 16:11:55

I'm hoping the subject title sounds intriguing enough to get people to read this post. A couple of days ago, I saw a documentary called "Genghis Blues". It was an account of a great blues player called Paul Pena from San Francisco who travelled to Tuva, a small country in Siberia where he joined in a singing competition of Tuvan throat singers. It's a unique singing style that has been carried on for centuries in their culture. In the competition, Paul combined his bluesy style with their throat singing. It was amazing! I love blues & I really appreciate throat singing & to see the two combined was a musical feast.

If this sounds interesting to anyone, or if any would like to expand their musical horizons, check out:

I'm curious to know if others find this as enjoyable as I do.
