Heh. Once I got the Sunday paper and sat on a cafe terrace. Saw a cute-ish guy and offered him the Sports section. Doh! He wasn't interested in sports, seemed almost insulted I'd offered it to him. Sigh - should have tried the Arts section.
I think you satisfied your homework requirement ... maybe he was also very shy and quiet. Good for you for taking action.
