Hi Blue,

Not all medications will make you into a zombie. I'm on a mood stabilizer (low dose) which is very helpful, but doesn't cause me to feel different from the way I usually feel. And I hear that there has been success in some people with atypical antipsychotics. Perhaps you could get some further information on the med board (follow the link at the top of the page). I don't know all that much about them.

Dialectical behavior therapy has had a great deal of success in dealing with BPD. Does anyone in your area offer it? It's impossible to get around here except in a hospital setting. But you might want to look into it.

You might also think about getting a second opinion. Psychiatric diagnosis is more of an art than a science. Someone else might have a different take on your situation. And of course a full medical workup is always a good idea. Hormones, etc. might be involved.

I think it's great that you are looking for help. That's the first and biggest step.
