I'm going trying the phase out thing...I've switched to ultra-lights and then I'm going to start tapering down a few every week and see if I can quit. Cold turkey id definitely not my thing. I started riding bikes with my son over the weekend and jeezus was I out of breath by the time I was done...

Hi Greg,
I'm doing great on the no smoking thing. It's funny, I had the worst cravings when I first quit, because I had it in my head that I will never have one again. Once I told myself that it's ok to have one someday.... that it is something I can enjoy again.... just very rarely, I haven't had the intense cravings!
Cold turkey is definately not for me either!! I went from marlboro, to lights, to ultralights.. next I smoked only half. Then when I quit for the first 2 weeks I had to quit cold turkey(I was going in for surgery).. then I started on the patch and that helped tremendously!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya know, you were a great part of my decision to quit.....and stay quit..... you were my silent inspiration, so thanks for that.

How are you doing on the no-drinking?? I admire what your doing so much. Ya know, I have thought many of the same things with smoking that you have with drinking. I wanted some sort of results... something tangable that I can say "this is why I did it."..... and never got any. In fact, I really didn't feel any different... and I thought I would feel a lot of physical rewards......

Until today. I walk on my treadmill everyday. Well today I upped it to jogging....I used to jog all the time until some medical problems... now I was doing the gradual walk, walk faster, up to a jog..... well,I started jogging, and jogging, and jogging.... I was amazed at how long I went without getting out of breath.... in fact, I never really did get out of breath. So I finally found a reward!

Anyway..... longer than I'm sure you wanted. Good luck.... let me know when you decide to quit and keep me updated. Take care of yourself, Kristi
