But during a recent trip to Lake Tahoe, I didn't spot any guy waitresses in the classier places. Then again, I was not studying the issue at that time. Plus, I am not too sure how I would look in the outfits, especially the skirt part. Anyway, from IBM to cocktail waitress is definitely a move in the right direction. As long as you are not bored.

Busting? No. The IBMers I have met are intelligent and smart but fealty to their employer has not (that I can see) challenged them to be creative or unconventional. The several waitresses I have known, however. . . .

Good to know. I can drive standard, stick, cars, vans, trucks, and tractors. Do you know whether the phenomenon of the wealthy valet is confined to Nevada? So far a classy restaurants go the best restaurants in Lake Tahoe had 100% male waiters and 100% of these males were gay. Even my conventional, naive and unobservant business associate spotted this. To enliven the heretofore languid pace of conversation, I began to speculate about WHY there was an unprecedented number of gay waiters in Lake Tahoe. I was just getting rolling when he abruptly informed me that it was all owing to the proximity of California. What does that have to do with it,I wondered, and then realized he meant that the waiters all LIVED in California, the state from whence all scary things come. I wanted to conduct a residency poll of the waitstaff, but was deterred by the expression on my friend's face when I proposed the idea. The waiters, no surprise here, picked up on the fellow's low-level anxiety about there being so many gay men in an enclosed and finite space and treated him with exquisite politeness and just the right amount of cheerful familiarity. By the end of desert they were chatting up a storm, with my friend displaying a level of animation that I had not seen before nor would see again during our four day convention. It took some doing to get him out the door and back to the hotel.

Sorry. Is this called a stream of consciousness or running at the mouth?

I hope I did not offend you with my IBM-waitress comparison. I love your posts and nothing could have been further from my intent.
