Wow, I was just talking to someone today about getting Rolfed. I don't know much about it, but it sounds so transforming. I hear that once you go through it, it can truly change your life. Hellerwork sounds even more intriguing.
I don't think it matters what you choose as a method for healing, as long as your intent to heal is strong. I would say that although nobody can heal ourselves but ourselves, and that the work is all ours, it is impossible to go it alone. We all need a proficient guide to accompany us. If you're going to "New Age" healers and getting a yucky feeling, that's a good thing. That's your gut and you need to follow it - it knows what is best for you. The New Age movement is quite the rage nowadays, and you will be certain to find a lot of poseurs who are more interested in appearing chic rather than be grounded and humble in their approach. If you find those holier-than-thou types, RUN.
That said, I just want to let you know that there are some incredibly gifted people out there who know exactly where it's at who can give you the love and support and wisdom that you need. Most of the wisdom is already inside you - they will teach you to trust it. It doesn't really matter what your religious beliefs are - God is a very subjective term that means something different to each person who utters the word. As far as I am concerned, there is only ONE truth. All rivers lead to the same ocean and it doesn't make a difference which one you choose to get there. You're on YOUR river. Stay with it and trust it. A gifted, competent healer will have the utmost respect for your "river" and will help you to navigate it.
