Hi Antigua,
I want to respond to this, but I'm afraid I didn't quite understand the nuance of your question. I think you do, and have done, a lot of transference work with your T, right? So you really aren't asking about what that is, right? I'm really wanting to understand. Frankly, you have helped me TREMENDOUSLY in my own understanding of the transference in my work with my T!

So is the question about whether or not your pdoc is engaging with you around this and why he won't talk about it? (Makes me wonder in general about whether therapists, psychologists, pdocs, etc. actually *decide* to work in this way or does it just "happen" cause we are clients in these structured relationships with the needs we have.)

Anyway, I am curious by what you meant by "rash of horrible flashbacks." Meaning, you are having them? Do you think maybe these are coming on because of transference you are experiencing? I may be way off here...

Also I'm curious about his not acknowledging your need to discuss it as being like your father. Actually, I feel that one too! Often with my T who is not really a blank slate, but keeps such strict personal boundaries that it can *feel* the same as my disconnected father who always left me alone emotionally. So, in these moments, major transference (of the painful kind) can occur. If she didn't want to discuss this (or if I don't share it and then she doesn't know it) it really upsets me.

Anyway, I'd like to hear more, and better understand what you are hoping to clarify.
