Ever tape-record your T?

Posted by pseudoname on May 26, 2006, at 9:41:55

That news clipping gg put up started me thinking.

Do you ever tape your therapy sessions? Do you do it secretly?

The last 2 therapists I saw, I asked their permission to tape the sessions, and I sometimes did so. My plan was to play the tapes and transcribe them (!), to make sure I was getting as much out of the sessions and not forgetting any gems the T might've given me.

Both agreed to it without any problem.

But sometimes, I would bring the recorder, but I'd be afraid to take it out and use it, even though they'd approved it. I really appreciated that the one T offered me an extension cord and said if my recorder didn't work well, I could use one of his!

I was sort of afraid that they would think I was taping them so I could later sue them or something, which was not it at all.
