I think you’re right: being around people usually does make me feel better, if I’m only a little depressed. But there are days when the idea of seeing people terrifies me. And when I’m quite depressed I find it absolutely exhausting to be around people.

However, I do think that maintaining social contact (when it feels possible) is much healthier than being alone.
