I found what Dr. Roth said as very thought provoking...
If it is true that you are able to stop yourself; that makes it a crutch- not an addiction. A very wise man...so to put his post and your last one together, I would say that perhaps you should be less critical of yourself for using a crutch AND find more constructive ways to mend those pathways so that you don't need a crutch...
