I cut my fingernails short, really short. I refinish furniture for fun and to have affordable things I love. I cook, for a living in fact, but not restaurant cooking. I ride a bicycle. I wear earrings and lipstick, love cashmere, make handbags, and can fix things if they don't have a motor.

I'm comfortable with powertools.

I am a heterosexual woman, I really like men (I'm married to one!). I also love - and I do *not* mean sexually - women.

When I was younger, women were competition and scared me, or I had to scare them. Now, I just like us, like talking, hiking, doing stuff with other women, not to the exclusion of men, but I love the company of women. We take in foreign students and it's great for me when it's a woman.

Men are great, they're men, with the attendant sensibilities. But my husband/companion/best friend, the person I spend the most time with, is a man.

ShortE, who is very very tired and maybe should have written this another time.
