GAD, panic attacks, and flying

Posted by rainyday on April 12, 2004, at 7:54:25

I had a terrible flying experience yesterday coming home from New Orleans. Very very bumpy rollercoaster ride flight. White knuckles, heart felt like it was going to leap out of my throat, I have never had this kind of terror while flying. I just kind of sat there clutching my husband's hand, and gulping like a goldfish taking a hike. I didn't feel like I was going to bolt or scream or anything, but I really overwhelmed with dread for the entire flight. I tried listening to music but it made me really agitated.

Any advice on how it could have been handled better?

Plus now I am certain I could *never* be a flight attendant.
