Hi.
I'm looking for a med which is a 5-ht2a/2c antagonist, but without having any adrenergic action like Mirtazapine and Trazodone.
For example, trazodone doesn't work very well for me. It sedates me somewhat, but less than most people reports. If i take a decent dose, i develop tachycardia which interferes with my sleep and although i feel sedated there is a feeling of tension. It's the noradrenergic action of Trazodone that gets in the way and ruins its effectiveness as a sleeping aid!...
If i would have to choose between Trazodone and a antihistamine like Phenergan to knock me off to sleep, i would choose Phenergan right away. Much more effective for me.
As for Mirtazapine, i have never tried it, i know that it has antihistaminic action which is very good, but i read that it uses the same mechanism to increase noradrenaline. So, does this drug exists or should i have to take my Trazodone with clonidine?
