Yes. All by itself. The inter-atomic spacings are near identical. The only difference would be steric, i.e. due to differences in the space occupied by the two structures.

As to the possible amphetamine metabolites, I have not found any studies reporting them that are not post-mortem. I don't think we'll ever know how they got there, as the individuals can no longer speak. It may be a metabolic quirk that produces them, but none has ever been identified when it was looked for. To produce meth from Parnate would require hydrogenation of the ring (never reproduced in targeted studies), combined with a transmethylation reaction. In biochemical analyses, you would find the both the intermediates (the transmethylation product without the ring opening, and the ring-opened products absent the methyl group), *and* the product (meth), and usually with the latter at lower concentrations than any of the former. As the intermediates have never been found in targetted assays, I can't presume that the more complex product would be found in concentrations sufficient to have any activity. Moreover, I do not trust chemical analysis from one case, from 1979. Analytical chemistry (the specialty underlying toxicology, and my forte) has advanced lightyears since then. Had that analysis been confirmed with modern lab studies which also demonstrated the intermediates, I would offer a different opinion.
