In reply to Nardil plus Geodon? - please offer advice, posted by 4WD on February 20, 2008, at 21:37:26
It looks like the interaction between the two drugs might be ok, but I'm not sure. There is a risk of serotonin syndrome which you might want to ask your doc about.

"MONITOR: Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.
MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression. Ambulatory patients should be counseled to avoid hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness and motor coordination until they know how these agents affect them, and to notify their physician if they experience excessive or prolonged CNS effects that interfere with their normal activities."
Antipsychotics have often been added to antidepressants to increase the antidepressant effect. Stimulation of the 5-ht1a receptor is thought to mediate the antidepressant properties of increased serotonin, while other receptors (5-ht2a, 5-ht3 etc.) mediate the side effects which antipsychotics usually block.

"Action:
Ziprasidone is an antagonist at serotonin 5-HT2A receptors and dopamine D2 receptors (141). The drug is a partial agonist at serotonin 5-HT1B receptors and an inverse agonist at 5-HT1D receptors (121). Ziprasidone is also an inverse agonist at 5-HT2C receptors (38)."Visit my website about neuroscience/neurotechnology:
