Is it possible to lose weight while on Remeron?

Posted by ClearSkies on August 24, 2007, at 21:17:56

I'm doing really well on 30mg Remeron, but I've gained about 5 lbs. of hard lost weight. (That is, I worked really hard to lose it, and it sprung back on really quickly.) My body sense is that I've stabilized and I won't tend to put on more weight.

I'm still in a bit of a stupor in the mornings, and can't see that a stimulant is in my future, since anxiety is still a part of my daily life. My energy level is slightly above that of a sloth, but I'm not yet able to throw myself out the front door and go for a walk every day. Ugh.

But what I'm really posting about is whether others have been able to lose weight they've gained due to medication changes while still taking those meds. Particularly Remeron, I guess, since it's one of those drugs that is notorious for causing weight gain. There just isn't any way I want to give it up and go back to my horrid days of lying listless on the floor again. Shudder.
