My view has always been that God would be unlikely to disrupt the lives of many to test the one. But that God may well have brought the realization to you that you needed assistance. And God may well have brought you the sure sweet knowledge that CBT was what you needed. And God may well have been by your side through the crisis, bringing a sense of calm that enabled you to remember and utilize the skills you learned.
But that's my theology. My prayers of supplication rarely if ever range to the changing of events, but rather to the strengthening of souls caught in the events.
