You know, you cant cant cant let other people, esp. people hiring for a job, even a great job--
you just CANT let those people define who you are.
who knows what's going on in their minds?????
I'm serious. I know a lot of people who go on auditions, after auditions, and get rejected a lot-- people with great talent, potential, and futures--
and I can absolutely assure you that in many, if not all, instances it is only partially related --sometimes not at all-- and certainly not at all in the sense that these hiring people are very fallible, and are guessing, and groping-- but at best only partly to do with who you are/ how great you would, in fact, be--
And much more to do with a million and one things that you can't imagine, that are individual, going on in the heads of the choosers/hirers/casting people/choreographers.
It's not the best dancer-- often it;s much less than the best-- it's the one who happens to fit with a conception, a particular slant, a preference, a moment that the person happened to look one way, and not another, in a room of dancers-- that could easily have happened another way on another day--
I know it doesn't feel like that-- it's really hard to learn how to try out-- or interview-- and crushing not to get that job, especially when they liked you.
I won't deny that the other person might have been good, too--,
But I absolutely refuse to contemplate the idea that you weren't/wouldn't have been a great hire for that job.
Period. (And I know this is easy to say, not live through- but this is still so true.)
