I would consider a "more basic" multivitamin to be one that supplies the necessary vitamins and minerals that we should be getting from our diets without adding very many (if any) extra supplements that might have drug-like effects on mood, whether it's in a good way or a bad way. In other words, a "more basic" multivitamin would be one that would help to protect against any vitamin or mineral deficiencies without the added health effects of various supplements that are found in some multivitamins. Now, a "more basic" multivitamin might not provide as many health benefits as one that has extra ingredients and might not be for everybody. It might not necessarily even be the best option for you. I'm just thinking that if you want the protection from vitamin and mineral deficiencies without the extra ingredients that might alter your mood (especially for worse) that something more basic, as I've described here, might be the safest route to take.
