I haven't tried glycine, but I have been supplementing with a magnesium glycinate/calcium glycinate blended vitamin when I wake early with a panicy feeling. It does seem to help calm me down and get me back to sleep. I don't know if it's the magnesium or the glycinate part (or the calcium) which is most effective.
