The flush is a good thing and some people enjoy it. You just have to start low and work your way up so the flush is not as bad at higher doses.
Like Linkage said, Niacin(nicotinic acid) may have benefits that the other forms of niacin don't. I know this is the case when treating cholesterol issues.
