New Pyrroluria Discussion List on Yahoo Groups:

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Pyrroluria

The purpose of this list is to share information, experiences and support each other in the exploration of a little documented condition called PYRROLURIA or PYROLURIA, so named due to the elevation of urinary metabolites with Pyrrole rings. Because heme synthesis is involved some feel it is a form of Acute Intermittent Porphyria. This condition is associated with degenerative disorders like Autism, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Fibromyalgia, Mood Disorders, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Cancer and Heart Disease.

Until there is a body of peer reviewed scientific literature to prove beyond a doubt both the existence of the disease and efficacy of proposed treatments, such conditions are relegated to the category of psuedo-diseases and considered fringe by mainstream practitioners and investigators. With this in mind it is not surprising that patients resort to the exceptionally talented pool of holistic practitioners for help with diagnosis and treatment. For their dedication and perseverance we are eternally grateful.

Symptoms may be related to deficiencies in Zinc & Vit B6. Elevated Kryptopyrrole [2,4-dimethyl-3-ethylpyrrole] or Hemopyrrole [3-ethyl-5-hydroxy-4,5-dimethyl-delta 3-pyrroline-2-one] and poor tolerance to physical and emotional stress are associated with the detection of Kryptopyrrolactam (KPU) and Hemopyrrolactam (HPU)in the urine. Symptoms often manifest initially as behavioral abnormalities.

Although children tend to be more easily diagnosed than adults symptoms range from behavioral, drug and chemical sensitivity, mood swings, depression, sensitivity to light, noise, tactile stimuli, chronic schizophrenia, pain, seizures, adrenal tenderness on deep palpation, physical debilitation, paranoia and even criminal behavior.

Malvaria, Pyroluria, Pyrroluria, Pyrolleuria, Pyrrole Disorder, Elevated Kryptopyrrole, B6 & Zinc Deficiency are associated terms.

Urinary pyrroles AKA mauve factor, kryptopyrrole, hemopyrrole, indole, and hydroxyhemopyrrolene.
