In other words, they're what we always called this stuff, but it has no relationship to what the stuff is. I think in a different terminology system, called IUPAC. It makes mistakes nearly impossible. Believe it or not, I prefer the name cis-9,cis-12-octadecadienoic acid over linoleic acid. I make mistakes translating back to trivial language, though, like saying linolenic when I mean linoleic.
