Sage is actually in the salvia family... the hallucinogenic salvia is closely related to the sage we know.

Salvia Divinorum is a kappa opoid agonist or antagonist... cant remember which. Anyway, that's its mechanism of action and produces more profound dissociative / hallucogenic experiences than any other known chemical. The trips tend to not be "fun".

However, in lower doses, doses I have experience with, it imparts the most relaxing feeling in my legs. It's amazing and unlike anything else I've ever felt.

THere are a few reports of this sub-hallucogenic dose causing relaxation as i have described so I suppose its not unique.
