Its a good question, and very difficult to answer!

Yes, buy a thermometer and do the Barnes Temperature test, check out http://www.thyroiduk.org/ its on there somewhere.

Be healthy, you know exercise, get in the fresh air etc etc.

But to be perfectly honest, obvious physical illness and things like that aside, I generally think tiredness is partly pyschosomatic. Or at least it can be I think. What do you do for a living? Do you enjoy what you do? When I'm not doing something in life that interests me and motivates me, I become tired and lack a certain lustre.

Have you checked yourself out for atypical depression? Or could it be a post viral fatigue thing? I once spent a good month generally tired after I got some viral infection in my first year at college (kissing too many boys!!)

Personally, I wouldn't say all carbs are bad. Simple carbs like white bread, boiled potatoes etc yes, avoid those but complex carbs like beans and veggies and fruits and oats actually go along way into you more energy actually. I really hate no-carb diets - our bodies have been designed to eat mainly carbs! They're no good for your kidneys either. I would avoid coffee too.

And I personally would only recommend eating 3 portions of oily fish a week - there are way too many environmental toxins that are contained within the fatty tissues of these fish. They pose a real health threat, I think even the FDA in the US has issued warnings over this. But by all means take a fish oil supplement which has been screened and filtered for these toxins.

Kind regards

Meri
