Sleep deprivation is the only antidepressant that makes me feel normal.
Some doctors have had sucess with treating depressions with a combination of sleep deprivation and lithium.
Sleep deprivation has all sorts of interesting effects on monamines, from serotonin to dopamine. It is also very effective for depression in parkinsons, which points to a dopaminergic mechanism.
